Video Production Training Program

Video Production Training Program

As a vendor service provider for Inland Regional Center, JDSCA’s Regional Day Video Production Program provides cross-collaboration and workforce training for adults with autism and other physical and developmental disabilities. Our career pathway program aims to provide training in a working studio to teach collaboration, soft skills, technical skills, logistics, and more through visual, performing, and digital arts. Program participants assist in the production of the award-winning Spirit of Innovation: Arts Across America , a monthly, feature-style newscast for Riverside County. Job Training Program: SOI Stories

SOI Talk – Created to explore opportunities and highlight abilities over disabilities, SOI Talk gives our program participants a chance to try their hand at writing, producing, and editing their own podcast. Host Scott Strand, along with rotating co-hosts from JDS Creative Academy’s job-training program, chat with special guests about breaking down barriers to achieve career satisfaction and self-enrichment.

SOI Stories – Revamped with a new title and focus, SOI Stories features our JDS Creative Academy participants diving into topics of interest that span across a variety of subjects; Arts & Education, History & Culture, and Science & Tech. Hosted, written, edited, and produced by our program participants, SOI Stories showcases their abilities and talents on a much broader scale.

Independent Projects – Our training participants also have the opportunity to participate in projects that allow them to work as a team. Designed to be participant-driven, independent projects require them to pick an interesting topic, write a script, and assemble a team who will assist with tasks including camera ops, editing, creating graphics, and more to help bring the participant’s vision to life.

Soft Skills – Our program also focuses on the behavioral side of job training. We teach our participants skills that would help them maintain a certain level of professionalism in a job setting. They learn skills such as time management, how to work with a team, how to send an email, request time off, and more.

PIP Program – At JDS Creative Academy, we also help our participants find paid year-long internships with local businesses and nonprofits. Through the paid internships, participants are also placed with a job coach who will teach them how to put the skills they’ve learned to practice.

Spirit of Innovation – As part of our job-training program, training participants play a significant role in the success of our award-winning television show, Spirit of Innovation: Arts Across America. They assist with everything from video production, audio, lighting, scriptwriting, editing, and more. The skills they learn at JDS Creative Academy will help prepare them for future jobs in creative adjacent industries.

Radio Community Spotlight – Since 2019, our program participants have hosted a radio segment on local Southwest Riverside County station 102.5 The Vine. They write, gather stories, record, edit, and announce their segments – sharing community events, traffic updates, news, and other Good-To-Know information.
