Every Note. Every Step. Every Line. Yours.

Musical theater isn't just about performing — it's about discovering what you're capable of. Each semester, our Musical Theater class takes students on an entirely new journey, blending vocal technique, movement, and acting into a full production experience.

Under the guidance of industry professionals, you'll strengthen your voice — whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned performer. You'll learn to harmonize with small groups and ensembles, sight-read music, interpret emotion through song, and move with intention on stage. The semester culminates in a full, live performance at our Winter Showcase, where your work is celebrated by family, friends, and the community.

This is a class where every student has a place, every ability is welcome, and every voice matters.

*Everyone gets a part. No experience necessary.

Katie McColm: Artistic Director At JDS Studio

Katie McColm brings a rare combination of fine art, design, and production experience to the JDS Creative Academy classroom. Her arts journey began at Laguna Beach High School, where she fell in love with performance and design. After earning her cosmetology license and diving deep into color theory and visual design, she founded her own fire spinning production company — including a 6-year artist residency at the Downtown Anaheim Art Crawl and a feature appearance on KTLA's morning show.

Katie showcased her visual art across Los Angeles and Orange County through RAW Artists and Art & Chocolate events, earning features in the LA Weekly and the OC Register. She later earned her Interior Design degree Cum Laude, then joined JDS Creative Academy — where she immediately set the bar high, designing the studio for DigiFest and creating the full sets, props, and costumes for The Wizard of Oz.
