At the heart of JDS Creative Academy is the belief that creativity should be accessible, practical, and career-focused. That vision belongs to Diane Strand.
As Founder and Chairman of the Board, Diane has built more than a nonprofit organization—she has created a pathway for aspiring artists, filmmakers, and digital creators to gain real-world skills, professional mentorship, and industry experience.
As the majority owner of JDS Video and Media Productions and Producer at JDS Actors Studio, Diane bridges education with hands-on production opportunities. Students don't simply learn theory—they work on real productions, collaborate with professionals, and gain meaningful industry experience.
She is also the Creator and Executive Producer of Spirit of Innovation, a news and information program serving Riverside County. Through every initiative she leads, Diane continues to demonstrate that creative careers are possible when education, mentorship, and community come together.

Scott Strand brings professional discipline and artistic expertise to JDS Creative Academy.
As Co-Founder and Board Member, Scott plays a vital role in shaping the Academy's performance and production training programs. An accomplished actor, director, and editor, he has built a career across multiple disciplines in the visual and performing arts.
As owner and operator of JDS Video and Media Productions and JDS Actors Studio, Scott has coached actors who have gone on to successful careers in television and film.
His students learn much more than performance—they learn professionalism, preparation, collaboration, and the business of working in the creative industries. Scott's leadership helps prepare students with the skills needed to build sustainable, long-term careers.

Peg McLaughlin is the owner of So Cal Legal Docs, Inc. in Temecula and has been a passionate supporter of youth in the arts for many years.
Her journey began as a parent volunteer in local drama programs while her children participated in theater. That experience inspired a lifelong appreciation for the confidence, creativity, and community that arts education provides.
When invited to join the JDS Creative Academy Board of Directors, Peg enthusiastically accepted because she believes in making arts education accessible to everyone.
Through her leadership, Peg helps support programs that inspire creativity, build confidence, and create meaningful opportunities for students of all abilities.

Carl Fielstra joined the Board of Directors because he believes deeply in accessible arts education for children and young adults.
He has witnessed firsthand how creative opportunities help young people build confidence, develop courage, and express themselves through visual, digital, and performing arts.
In addition to serving on the Board, Carl works with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and owns a pool design and construction business. His commitment to JDS Creative Academy began after seeing how the arts positively impacted his own child.
Today, Carl continues to help advance the Academy's mission of opening doors for every student who wants to learn, create, and thrive.

Lynn Cohen brings thoughtful leadership, organization, and a strong commitment to the mission of JDS Creative Academy.
As Board Secretary, Lynn helps ensure the organization operates with clarity, professionalism, and purpose. Her dedication behind the scenes supports the continued growth of programs that provide meaningful educational opportunities for aspiring artists and creatives.
Her steady leadership helps strengthen the Academy's foundation while supporting its vision of making quality arts education accessible to the community.

Johanna Lack brings decades of professional writing, producing, and storytelling experience to JDS Creative Academy.
An award-winning television producer and writer, she has worked on programs for HGTV, DIY Network, CBS, ABC, and Discovery Channel, including House Hunters, Designed to Sell, and Renovation Realities. She also serves as Head Writer for Spirit of Innovation.
As a Board Member, Johanna helps guide the Academy's mission while sharing her extensive industry knowledge with students and fellow creatives. Her passion for storytelling and creative excellence helps ensure students experience professional standards and meaningful educational opportunities.

Donna San Miguel, Ph.D., serves as Executive Director of Community Relations and Associate Dean at California State University San Marcos in Temecula.
With more than 15 years of experience in higher education, Donna has dedicated her career to supporting student success and building strong connections between education and the community.
Her leadership and commitment to empowering students through education and the arts continue to strengthen JDS Creative Academy's mission of providing creative opportunities for all.

Tom Sommers brings extensive experience in business, finance, and strategic leadership to the JDS Creative Academy Board of Directors.
His professional background includes financial planning, international business, and active involvement with community organizations, including the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Tom's thoughtful leadership and dedication to education help strengthen the Academy's ability to expand arts education and create opportunities for students of all ages.

Paul Rangel has deep roots in the Temecula Valley community and brings more than 40 years of experience in the retail industry.
Alongside his wife, Lisa, Paul co-owns and operates Sofa Spectrum Furniture, a local business built on service, integrity, and community connection.
His commitment to serving others extends beyond business through years of involvement with community organizations, local ministries, and initiatives supporting small businesses.
Paul's passion for collaboration and community development makes him a valued member of the JDS Creative Academy Board of Directors and a strong advocate for accessible arts education.

Stephen Ochs is a dedicated advocate for inclusion, creativity, and educational opportunity.
As a member of the JDS Creative Academy Board of Directors, Stephen supports programs that empower students of all abilities to explore the arts, build confidence, and express themselves creatively.
