Fashion & Backstage Design

Schedule: Wednesday 4:30 – 6:30pm
Students will gain design skills; conceptual skills, sketching, working with color and fabric. Students will study the trends of fashion throughout history. They will learn sewing skills, working with established patterns and creating their own patterns. Students will learn costuming techniques to meet the needs of the script and director. Students will focus on stage design, props, backdrops, makeup and work backstage during theater live productions for the JDS Actors Studio Plays & the JDS Creative Academy Semester Showcase Productions. During the semester they will create latex masks, skull caps, learn about and practice stage make up, hand stitching and alteration techniques for live theater costume & make up design.
