Students will learn to use all types of media: pencil, charcoal, pastels and paint. They will study composition using still and live elements incorporating lighting and background format. Students will study art history from antiquities to graffiti.

FashionFashion, Costumes & More
Students will design with drawing & fabric. This class will have a strong focus on figure drawing and fashion design which requires drapery and figure drawing. Students will study the trends of fashion throughout history. They will learn costume technique to meet the needs of the script and director, students will work with the backstage class on costuming and with the artistry class for drawing.


Backstage Theatre Production

Schedule: Wednesday (beginning 8/28/19) 5:30 – 7pm
Students will focus on stage design, props, backdrops, makeup and costuming preparing for the Backstage Theater Production Temeculabackstage components to the JDS Actors Studio Plays. They will learn and assist with set painting, props, costumes and more. During the semester they will create latex masks, skull caps, learn about and practice stage make up, hand stitching and alteration technique for costume & make up design. They will also get to choose a stage production of their choice and create and build a replica of a scene.

Puppet Theatre

This course will introduce students to all aspects of Puppet Theater by teaching various elements of puppet design and creation using various art forms. Students will also learn about puppet presentations and performances.

Meet your Instructor! Catherine Snodgrass


Catherine Snodgrass is a local artist who was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. From an early age, her artwork quickly gained a good deal of recognition around the City of New York. Her work has been featured in many urban art exhibitions including the Brooklyn Museum of Art and she continues to exhibit in many solo and group art shows. Catherine studied art in NYC at the High School of Art & Design and Pratt Institute. Her career path took many turns and her relevant work experience contributed to a current career as an artist, illustrator, graphic designer, and published children’s book author/illustrator. She is skilled in a variety of art mediums and methods including digital, graphic, fashion, and production design.
