CreativePreneur Becomes a #1 Amazon Bestseller: Turning Creativity Into Opportunity
Some moments in a creative journey make you stop, look around, and really take in how far an idea has come.
For me, this is one of those moments.
CreativePreneur: Use the Tools of the Arts to Grow Your Business officially reached #1 in the Starting a Business category on Amazon, earning its place as an Amazon Bestseller.
Seeing CreativePreneur reach #1 is incredibly exciting, but for me, this milestone means much more than a ranking. It tells me that the message behind this book is connecting with people.
And that message is something I have believed throughout my entire career:
Creativity belongs in business.
Too often, creativity is treated as something separate from leadership, entrepreneurship, or professional success. We are told that creative skills are hobbies, extracurricular activities, or something to pursue after the “real work” is done.
I have never believed that.
In fact, my experience has shown me the exact opposite.
The tools we develop through the arts are some of the strongest tools we can bring into business and into life.
Communication. Collaboration. Preparation. Confidence. Storytelling. Problem-solving. Adaptability. The ability to connect with people.
All of these skills matter.
So does learning how to take a risk, make adjustments, keep moving forward when things do not go as planned, and trust that the skills you have developed along the way can help you find the next step.
Those lessons have been part of my own journey from the very beginning.

From Creativity to Business
CreativePreneur is part memoir and part business playbook.
It shares lessons from my years working in television and entertainment, building companies, navigating a recession and a pandemic, creating JDS Creative Academy, and learning what it really takes to turn a creative idea into something sustainable.
My path was not always clear, and it certainly was not always easy.
There were challenges, unexpected changes, moments of uncertainty, and plenty of times when I simply had to figure things out as I went.
But again and again, I found myself returning to the same creative tools that had helped shape me early in my career.
Those tools helped me communicate more clearly, solve problems differently, build relationships, recognize opportunities, and keep going when the next step was not obvious.
That is why I developed and share practical ideas such as the D.R.E.A.M. framework, the Tools of the Arts, my philosophy of “packing your own parachute,” and what it means to lead with H.O.P.E.
These are not ideas that came from simply studying business.
They came from experience.
They came from building, creating, failing, learning, adjusting, showing up, and trying again.
This Book Was Never Meant to Be Only About My Story
That is one of the most important things I hope readers understand about CreativePreneur.
This book is not simply about where I have been.
It is about helping other people recognize what they already have within them and learn how to use those skills in new ways.
It is for the artist who has been told their creative gift is “just a hobby.”
It is for the entrepreneur who has an idea but is not sure how to turn it into something real.
It is for the professional who wants to communicate better, lead with more purpose, create stronger connections, or bring more imagination into the work they are already doing.
And it is for anyone who's ever wondered whether what they were told they couldn't do might actually be what they were meant to build their life around.

Creativity Is a Business Skill
One of the biggest ideas behind CreativePreneur is that creativity is not separate from business.
It is part of how strong businesses are built.
Creativity helps us find solutions when the obvious answer does not work. It helps us tell better stories, communicate ideas, understand people, adapt when circumstances change, and recognize opportunities that others may overlook.
The arts teach us how to prepare and still be ready to improvise.
They teach us how to work independently and collaborate with others.
They teach us how to accept feedback, make adjustments, take risks, and keep going.
Those are not just artistic skills.
They are leadership skills.
They are entrepreneurial skills.
And they are skills we can carry with us into almost any industry or stage of life.
The response to CreativePreneur has been incredibly meaningful. Hearing from readers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and business leaders who are connecting with the ideas in the book reminds me why I wanted to write it in the first place.
Creativity is not the “soft” side of business.
I believe it is one of the strongest tools we have to communicate, solve problems, build relationships, create opportunities, and turn ideas into action.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Seeing CreativePreneur become a #1 Amazon Bestseller is something I am deeply grateful for.
To everyone who has purchased the book, shared it, recommended it, talked about it, or supported this journey in any way, thank you.
But I also see this milestone as just the beginning.
Because the real success of this book is not only where it lands on a bestseller list.
It is what happens when someone reads it and starts looking at their own creativity differently.
If this book helps even one more person recognize the value of their creative gifts, trust the skills they have developed, and take that next step toward something they want to build, then that is a success worth celebrating.
Your creative side may already be calling.
Maybe it is time to answer.
